This October, in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the L.D. Bell Athletic programs decided to take a stand against domestic violence. Their goal was to help spread awareness by making public commitments to prevent domestic violence.

Head football coach Mike Glaze shared why their programs took a special interest in this cause: "One of the core values of our program is character. Part of teaching character to our young men means spending a significant amount of time every week of the school year talking about how we should live our lives." In October, the teams focused on compassion and felt that the awareness effort was the perfect opportunity to show concern for others.

The coaches invited their teams to fill out a pledge card, which begins "I pledge to stop domestic violence because..." Those taking the pledge each filled in their own reasons, took a picture of themselves holding their card, and posted it to social media with the hashtag "#RaidersAgainstAbuse." Approximately 140 Blue Raider athletes participated in this campaign, spreading a message of domestic violence prevention through the L.D. Bell community and their extended social media networks.
